I bought myself Zippo? Ye beautiful as the golden dream

Zippo 161 cooper

It took six months and okazyvaetsya on it was just a coating of varnish.

Now I have it just has the color of red copper.

All is good, and it's beautiful, but now it's getting dark, pokryvaetsya patina.

And then the patina become lighter then darker, then green depending on the humidity like.

I want to ask, is nothing we can do about it? Or there are any secrets in this regard.

Thank you.

Well, you can polish it any way you can. But the thing is that it will still be dark, if you use it and carries around in his pockets. That is to stop this process is hardly possible.

Yes I polish paste it where you goi every 2 weeks.

Sorry if I had known that this type of lighters have this problem, would buy chrome.

It would cost less.

Just a shame that a lot of money to receive such goods.

Did no one in the company handled the matter.

Thanks for the answers

I will think about the classic zippo

Anyone had apparently never occurred to complain :) And for what? :)) That's what that copper dark matter that her drag the pockets? It will be dark, it is perfectly normal. Covering brass (yellow) is also the way it gets dark. Chrome is not only dark, but just wears over the years.

Well, you can do the same coating that is not enough for 3-4 months and even competed chromium.

Cover the same brass handles for doors which are under heavy load from the use or wear out over the years

Otherwise, the meaning is lost lighters buy this tipa.Esli for collection.

Just over 2000 to get a lighter that has a horrible green color after six months I find unacceptable.

Can I get information here where I would be able to send claims for the quality of production.

And I apologize if I offended anyone their posts.

Thank you.

Herman, you are absolutely not offend anyone :)))) Well, I'm just explaining how to eat, wear down and the cover and it has been and will be. Even Zippo lifetime guarantee does not extend to cover. Zippo is generally a utilitarian thing, not a piece of jewelry that is required to maintain the form and color for years :)

Claim can send directly to the company Zippo:

I would add that if you keep polishing the brass Zippo it just wears off, since any polishing is the removal of a thin top layer of the metal, especially with pasta, and the thickness of the body Zippo (normal, chrome) is only 0.57 mm.

In that case, you just need to cover Street Chrome. And any problems and complaints you will not!

Support, 161 Solid Copper - a great model. The very use. Luck has worn on top and lighter "flushed". Just super happy. I look forward to when it will be covered with a patina.

Ways to prevent the copper from the patina - tens.

The oldest - beeswax (honey to eat first!), Stretch your hand in wax and gently spread the wax on sympathetic svezheotpolirovanuyu lighter raspolirovat wax polishing cloth. Not very stable, but - it is better than nothing.
As an option - furniture polish, and better - Turtle Wax car. Until the means for polishing floors, there is a part of acrylic lacquer.

Another option - tsapon varnish. The stores sell for radio, transparent.

There is a polyurethane varnish, two-component - also good. Two component epoxy - very steep, difficult to tear off his sandpaper, so it is strong. Up until the nail "tanchikov" - two-glyantsey good one component - acrylic, so-so.

In copper and brass Zippo shtatovskih in a box liner is where it says that the lighter is covered by some bystrostiraemym composition, which is designed to protect the metal from oxidation during storage exclusively.

Is there such a warning in Zippo, which sell in the former CIS - x / z.

And do not cheat - and the truth is erased ... :)

I once broke off and is also very upset when my first Daren cops brass Zippo was dark, and then tried to turn green at all (in the heat with sweat, apparently). Then he used to like that. Especially if it is in the work - it is not so strong and oxidized.

It would be nice to release 100% of the copper Zippo, clad in PVC insulation, like a wire. To avoid tarnishing. Had called a model, for example, Zippo Wired Copper ;)

Herman, the oxidation of the copper is completely Zippy is a normal process, alas. Does not darken only gold and silver. Incidentally, Zippo and platinum did still somehow.

Silver does not get dark ... It is black :)) fast and at what places ...

Do not think that this oxidation happened in 130 years ... :) This is the result of one year of standing in the light at room temperature. :)
